Arsenal are on the brink of agreeing a new deal with 20-year-old midfielder Emile Smith-Rowe until 2026.
The Gunners have been in negotiations with the youngster’s representatives for months over a new long-term deal and are close to reaching terms.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Smith-Rowe is ready to sign the contract until June 2026 with the last details needing to be finalised.
Emile Smith Rowe enjoyed a breakout campaign and Arsenal are offering a new deal
Smith Rowe turns 21 in July and will be full of confidence heading into next season after his most successful run in the side to date.
He made 20 Premier League appearances for the Gunners, scored twice and provided four assists.
Back in February, he said: ‘I can’t really describe the feeling, to be honest.
‘Being an Arsenal fan from such a young age, getting an opportunity to help put on the Arsenal shirt and step out on that pitch, there’s really no better feeling for me.’
Mikel Arteta sees the value in the midfielder and the new contract offer is until 2026
Smith Rowe scored twice in the Premier League and delivered four assists last season
So it comes as no surprise that Smith-Rowe wants to commit his long-term future to his boyhood club.
There had been interest from other clubs in the attacking midfielder, with Aston Villa known to be admirers.
But they have moved to secure Emiliano Buendia from Norwich for a club record fee of £33million and there had been little chance of Arsenal allowing one of their best young prospects to go.
