Spain’s Under-21s thrash Lithuania 4-0 as they stand in for the senior squad in Euro 2020 warm-up clash with Luis Enrique’s men in isolation after Sergio Busquets tested positive for Covid-19
Spain’s Under-21s thrashed Lithuania 4-0 on Tuesday night as they stood in for their senior squad after Sergio Busquets forced them into isolation after testing positive for coronavirus.
Luis Enrique’s men have seen their Euro 2020 preparations suffer as a result of the positive test with an emergency training bubble formed in case there is a wider outbreak.
Spain have taken steps to split the groups following Busquets’ positive Covid test over the weekend but the move is precautionary and at present, all players and staff have tested negative.
But it meant their Under-21 side had to fill in and play their friendly against Lithuania on Tuesday night, although they made light work of their opposition at Estadio Municipal de Butarque in Leganes.
Hugo Guillamon, Brahim Diaz, Juan Miranda and Javi Puado were all on target as the Spaniards cruised to victory.
