‘Indiana Jones 5’ Set Photos Tease Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s New Character

Set photos from the untitled fifth Indiana Jones film give us a brand new look at Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s mysterious character.

Disney announced recently that the upcoming Indiana Jones film would be pushed back nearly a year. No reason was given in the announcement, but seeing as the film is currently still rolling, and the production suffered numerous setbacks due to multiple injuries, it seems like a wise decision. Plus, the film’s 2022 original release date saw it going up against Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam.

Details on Harrison Ford’s fifth outing as Indy are slim, though we do know that the film is set in the 1960s, at the height of the space race. Joining the charismatic yet grumpy archeologist on his latest adventure is Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who plays an unknown character. Set photos indicate that she’s acting as an ally of Indy’s, though that can always change once the third act sees people’s true intentions come to light.

JustJared managed to get to their hands on a series of photos, which were taken in Castellammare del Golfo, Italy. The film was previously shot in the United Kingdom.

In a rare instance, Harrison Ford is seen smiling alongside Phoebe Waller-Bridge in a few of the photos. One snap shows both taking a look at Antonio Banderas, though only the back of his head can be seen. Ford is seen in his typical Indiana Jones get-up, proving that it’s a look that never ages.

Here is the synopsis for the previous film in the franchise, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull:

STEVEN SPIELBERG and GEORGE LUCAS bring you the greatest adventurer of all time in “a nonstop thrill ride” (Richard Corliss, TIME) that’s packed with “ensational, awe-inspiring spectacles” (Roger Ebert, CHICAGO SUN-TIMES). Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull finds Indy (Harrison Ford) trying to outrace a brilliant and beautiful agent (Cate Blanchett) for the mystical, all-powerful crystal skull of Akator. Teaming up with a rebellious young biker (Shia LaBeouf) and his spirited original love Marion (Karen Allen), Indy takes you on an action-packed adventure in the exciting tradition of the classic Indiana Jones movies!

Indiana Jones 5 is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on July 29, 2022. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for all the latest news on Lucasfilm’s upcoming projects, and subscribe to our YouTube channel for more video content in the future!
