After completing a takedown, Guida went on to hold Santos in a choke from behind that eventually made the latter tap out after failing to break free just one minute and 21 seconds into the second round.

Guida admitted he was ‘really badly hurt’ by Santos racing out of the blocks but insisted he ‘needed that one’ after mounting a comeback.

‘One word: wrestling, baby,’ Guida said after the fight when asked how he survived Santos’s early onslaught.

‘Wrestling got us here, wrestling’s going to keep us here. He had me hurt real, real bad.
