The In The Heights star will become the fourth live-action Batgirl and the third Latina cast in an upcoming DC superhero project.

In The Heights star Leslie Grace has been officially cast as Barbara Gordon in the upcoming Batgirl solo movie.

The upcoming Batgirl movie is gearing up to film very soon and casting on the film is officially underway. Earlier this week it was revealed that Warner Bros. and DC Films was looking at a list of actresses that included Zoey Deutch, Isabela Merced, Leslie Grace and Haley Lu Richardson for the titular role and now we finally know who will play Barbara Gordon. Warner Bros. and DC Films have officially revealed that In The Heights star Leslie Grace will be our Batgirl for the upcoming solo movie.

Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are set to direct Batgirl, which is being planned as a movie for the WarnerMedia streaming service HBO Max. The two most recently directed the 2020 box office hit Bad Boys for Life and episodes of the upcoming Disney Plus series Ms. Marvel. Christina Hodson, the screenwriter behind Birds of Prey and The Flash, penned the script.

The Batgirl movie is expected to follow the Barbara Gordon iteration of the Gotham City heroine. Barbara was last seen in a live-action feature film in Joel Schumacher’s Batman & Robin, with Alicia Silverstone playing the iconic DC Comics character.

The next Gotham City-based movie is The Batman, which is shrouded in secrecy. We know that the film will follow Robert Pattinson as a younger version of Bruce Wayne, chronicling Batman during his second year as the Dark Knight. The film will also show off the hero using his skills as a detective more than what we’ve seen before in previous versions of the hero. It is expected to be the first installment in a new trilogy of films with Pattinson.

Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the titular hero, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.

The Batman is currently scheduled to hit theaters on March 4, 2022. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding HBO Max’s Batgirl and future of DC Films. Also, make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more video content.
