Paulo Dybala’s agent ‘to meet Juventus chiefs early next week to discuss new long-term contract at the club… with Argentina star having entered the final year of his contract at Serie A giants’

  • Paulo Dybala has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Juventus
  • No new deal has been agreed, leading to speculation the Argentine could leave
  • Reports state 27-year-old’s agent Jorge Antun will fly to Italy over the weekend
  • Antun will then hold talks with club chiefs at the beginning of next week

Paulo Dybala’s agent will hold talks with Juventus early next week regarding a new contract at the club, according to reports.

The Argentina international has entered the final 12 months of his deal at the Serie A giants and has yet to commit to new terms.

The lack of an agreement has led to speculation the 27-year-old could look to leave the Allianz Stadium this summer, but Goal claim Juventus boss Massimilano Allegri and the club’s hierarchy still see him as part of their long-term project.

The report therefore adds his agent Jorge Antun is set to fly to Italy over the weekend ahead of holding talks regarding a fresh long-term contract with Juventus chiefs early next week.

The same outlet also claims Juventus have already contacted Dybala’s representatives to reopen negotiations, with Antun’s meeting scheduled to discuss the smaller details of any renewal and subsequently reach a definitive agreement.

Juventus chairman Andrea Agnelli revealed in December that Dybala had been offered a new bumper contract that would have ‘put him among the top 20 best-paid players in Europe’.

However, terms were never decisively agreed despite talks running into the start of 2021, and despite links of a sensational swap deal involving Barcelona star Antoine Griezmann, the Italian giants are determined to keep hold of their man.

The Argentine has also reportedly interested Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Manchester United over the past 12 months.

Dybala – who turns 28 in November – has spent six season so far at Juventus after joining in a £27million deal from Palermo in 2015.

He has made 254 appearances across all competitions since that move, winning 12 trophies in the process, including five Serie A titles and four Coppa Italias.

The Argentina star has also netted 100 goals and laid on 41 assists for his Juventus team-mates during his spell in Turin.

Dybala was named the Most Valuable Player in Serie A at the end of the 2019-20 season under Maurizio Sarri.

But bouts of Covid as well as struggling with injuries during 2020-21 hampered his game as Pirlo’s men finished fourth, scraping a Champions League spot.
